How to Do A Facial Sauna By Yourself
|
If you are concerned about the condition of your skin, chances are you might have thought of engaging in a facial sauna in order to make it look and feel better. But instead of having it done at the spa or the salon, why not take matters in your own hands and do the entire facial sauna yourself? It truly is easy once you get the hang of it, and in the long run will be able to save you lots of time (no more trips to the salon), petrol (stop wasting gas for your car when you can stay home and do it yourself) and money (no professional fees, as the professional is you and you do it to yourself for free!)
To start off, you will need several items for the entire procedure. You will need a pot of boiling water, a big clean towel, a wide shallow basin, some cleansing agent like mild facial wash, a light scrub made out of ground oatmeal, an extractor, a big mirror and a facial towel. All of these ingredients and materials can be easily found in your home, and if you do not have an extractor you can easily purchase one at your local drugstore or beauty outlet.
Prior to the actual facial sauna itself, make sure you wash your face with a mild soap and water to ensure you start off on a clean slate and whatever gets loose would be the impurities that get trapped even after cleansing your face with soap. To start, pour a little bit of the boiling water in the basin. Do not pour all so you will not have to get up and boil another pot. Next, make sure your hair is tied up in a bun and lower your face to about six or seven inches away from the surface of the boiling water. Take a deep breath and hold it in, as well as closing your eyes and tucking in your lips to keep the steam from stinging these delicate areas. Throw the towel around your head to ensure that no steam gets out quickly, thus making the most of your time under the sauna. When you feel the temperature going down a bit, it is time to pour out the water and replenish it. Take care to do this quickly, as you want to retain the heat on your face and lagging in time will mean having your face cooled off and pores will close.
After around five times of doing this (or roughly around half an hour), you can finally emerge from the steam and tap your face dry. You will notice some bumps on your face, and these are the loosened dirt that got softened up thanks to the steam. Using your extractor, carefully slide it over the most obvious bumps in order to remove the impurities. For the smaller ones, take your facial cleanser and smear it over your face. Take the damp facial cloth and slowly rub in circles around your face to exfoliate the area. When everything feels smooth and clear, rinse face with cold water and pat dry. To tighten the pores, rub an ice cube on your face and let cool until dry.
